We are looking for a passionate Mid-Level Python Developer & Business Analyst to join our growing team. This is a developer-first role for someone who enjoys building software while also engaging with clients to understand business requirements and deliver practical, high-quality solutions.

You will work across the full software development lifecycle, developing and enhancing Odoo applications, integrating systems, improving existing solutions, and working closely with stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

About the Role

As a Mid-Level Python Developer & Business Analyst, you will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing business applications primarily using Python and the Odoo ERP framework. You will work closely with clients, project managers and fellow developers to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex business problems through technology and wants to grow their expertise in enterprise software development.

Key Responsibilities

Software Development

  • Design, develop and implement software solutions using Python and Odoo.
  • Develop new Odoo modules and customise existing functionality.
  • Debug, troubleshoot and resolve issues within existing Python code.
  • Enhance and maintain existing applications and integrations.
  • Write clean, efficient and maintainable code following development best practices.
  • Participate in peer code reviews and contribute to maintaining a high-quality codebase.
  • Contribute throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from design through deployment and support.
  • Assist with system integrations using APIs and web services.
  • Support software testing, defect resolution and quality assurance activities.

Business Analysis

  • Engage with clients to understand business processes and requirements.
  • Analyse business needs and translate them into functional and technical specifications.
  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes through technology.
  • Assist with solution design workshops and stakeholder meetings.
  • Prepare system documentation, technical documentation and user guides.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and end-user training.
  • Work closely with project managers to ensure successful project delivery.

Must Have

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in software development.
  • Strong Python programming skills.
  • Experience working with object-oriented programming principles.
  • Exposure to Odoo ERP or a willingness to learn the platform.
  • Experience working with ERP systems.
  • Good understanding of PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
  • Experience working with SQL.
  • Ability to understand, maintain and improve existing codebases.
  • Experience with Git or other version control systems.
  • Good understanding of software development best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team.
  • Comfortable engaging directly with clients and stakeholders.

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience developing within Odoo.
  • Odoo Studio experience.
  • Experience with JavaScript, XML and QWeb.
  • Experience integrating third-party systems using REST APIs.
  • Knowledge of Docker or containerised deployments.
  • Experience with Linux environments.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms.
  • Agile or Scrum experience.
  • Experience with Finance, CRM, Inventory, Manufacturing or HR ERP modules.
  • Previous consulting or professional services experience.
  • Business process mapping and process improvement experience.
  • Experience facilitating workshops or gathering business requirements.
  • Understanding of accounting or financial business processes.
