This is a paid internship position with potential for a full-time offer based on performance. Applicants must be legally eligible to work in South Africa
Responsibilities
- Analyzing source data to understand its quality, structure, and characteristics.
- Defining how data should be transformed and loaded into the target system.
- Ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
- Writing SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and validation.
- Managing data extraction, transformation, and loading processes.
- Developing and conducting tests to validate data accuracy.
- Creating visual reports for data validation and quality assessment.
- Indexing the data before migration
- Ensuring data is structured in the target system.
Must Have
- Recent graduate of a Bachelor's degree , Honors or Masters in a related field such as:
- Data Science
- Statistics, Mathematics
- Computer Science, Economics
- Information Technology - Data Profiling: must be skilled in assessing and profiling data to understand its structure, quality, and characteristics.
- Data Mapping: can define how data from the source system should be mapped to the target system.
- Data Quality Assurance: must be able to ensure data quality by identifying and addressing data quality issues such as missing values, duplicates, and inconsistencies.
- SQL and Data Querying: has knowledge of SQL (Structured Query Language) for data extraction, transformation, and validation. comfortable writing complex SQL queries to manipulate and validate data.
- Data Validation: skilled in creating validation scripts and conducting data validation tests to ensure that data migration is accurate and complete.
- Data Visualization: knowledgeable in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Python libraries (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn) to create visual reports for data validation and quality assessment.
- Data Migration Tools: Familiar with data migration tools and platforms commonly used in the industry, such as Pentaho, Apache Kafka, AWS Glue, or Azure Data Factory.
- Data Analysis Tools: knowledgeable in data analysis tools such as Python, R, or Excel for data manipulation and analysis.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
- Communication skills: must be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of Odoo or other ERP systems is a plus.
